Applications are invited for a POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
at
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore , available immediately,
to work on an ISRO supported project in the area of compact object
astronomy and astrophysics, accretion disk, nuclear astrophysics, related gravity
physics. The project is expected to be involved with data analysis, particularly of
X-ray, along with analytical and numerical work. Preference might be given to the
individuals with knowledge/experience in at least some of the following fields: X-ray
astronomy, accretion physics, radiative transfer, compact object physics,
hydrodynamics/magnetohydrodynamics.
The applicants must have atleast submitted his/her thesis for a Ph.D. degree in
Physics/Astrophysics. The position is initially for 2 years, but extendable further
depending upon performance with evaluation at the end of every year. The salary will
be provided at par the Central Government rule.
The successful candidate will have access to the high speed computing facilities
of IISc. Currently, the high
energy astrophysics group working in the topics mentioned above comprises several
postdoctoral fellows: Debbijoy Bhattacharya, Ritam Mallick, along
with number of students. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to
interact and work with them along with all the faculty members of
the Department of Physics.
