School Life

I haven't done much of schooling but whatever I have done, I enjoyed that. I gave my full one-year time to 6th standard, which I did from Holy Heart Public School (HHPS) from Apr.95 - Mar.96. My school was just a few walk steps away from our rented apartment in Mahavir Enclave, New Delhi. I liked this school, its atmosphere, teachers and my classmates cum friends. I don't know where they are now, but they gave me a very good company. I was under-age at that time. An 8-year old child is not allowed to write Class 6th exams according to rule, but still I wrote the final exams. It was only when my school's annual function day came somewhere in last week of Mar. 96, I felt that I was really under-age. I did very well in exams but I haven't got any position when the results were announced. I was surprised. It was an occasion of celebration: Annual function. Everyone was happy except me: completely disappointed and emotional at that time. My all labor got wasted. Later, school authorities said that they can't promote me to higher standard because I was under-age. They disclosed my result privately to me. Surprise, I topped not only in class but in whole school !! But of no use, nobody knew this fact.

I had to leave HHPS and then I joined Jindal Public School (JPS), New Delhi for Class 7th on the condition that I will have to get age-relaxation from government, which I hadn't got so far. I didn't get it even after my summer-vacation and then finally on Jul. 10, 1996 I had to leave school. I started my self-studies at home. I was totally uncertain, where was my future? Will I have to go back to lower classes according to my age, or something else???. This uncertainty continued till last week of Oct. 1996, when I received a letter from Government of Delhi. Surprisingly, then Lieutenant Governor of New Delhi, Shri P.K.Dubey had granted me age-relaxation (special thanks to him) and I would have continued my studies in usual way. But destiny wanted something else! During my self-studies, I finished most of the parts of curriculum of 7th, 8th, 9th & 10th class and I was sure that in next 4 months, I can finish it completely. I didn't want to join 7th class again because I had already finished it. I told it to my father and he approached CBSE for getting permission for a 9 year old child (me) to appear in class 10 exams, but in vain. CBSE and my school was totally against me. Finally, we moved to Delhi High Court (HC). This unique court-case got the attention of international media and finally we won it. "Tathagat got HC Tathastu !".

It was the end of my school life. What an unique farewell to school, isn't it? I can't forget the efforts of my respected father Shri Tulsi Narayan Prasad in all these things. Without his efforts, nothing was possible, no world records at all.
